We ate at the Ozone Hotel twice for our evening meal.
We ate at the Ozone Hotel twice for our evening meal. Great food and excellent service. Cactis Cafe for lunch and the food was wonderful service great. Scrumptious Cafe for lunch, my husband liked it, me not really. Amanda's Cafe twice for take away for our evening meal. Hamburgers and fish and chips. Fantastic ice cream cone! Bella Cafe and Pizza Bar. We had pizza 2 nights (we chose take away) and wow, great pizza! We loved the cliff path walk. Reeves Point and Bay of Shoals are a must. I loved the gift shop too. I wouldn't bother with American River unless you are a fisherman with a boat or you love fresh oysters. I wish we had made the effort to make sandwiches a couple of days because on the island you could start looking like a hamburger. The Penneshaw Post Office was a delight to visit. Really lovely people. We bought a great map there too. The chemist two doors up is small but the girl there was really lovely. If you have a prescription to fill they send it up to Kingscote to the pharmacist to have it filled and returned to you. We went to a lot of the spectacular sights. Highlights were Dudley Wines, Raptor Domain just beautiful and very informative. Millie Mae's Pantry is a must in Penneshaw. We had a ploughman's lunch which was excellent. This cafe is a true gem. Parndana is a must to visit in the centre of the island. Great people and the cafe was wonderful. For people with young children they have a great park which is fenced and that is where you find the toilets.

Kangaroo island has amazing wildlife and beautiful scenery. We saw penguins, sea Liam’s, wallabies and kangaroos in the wild. fFlinders chase national park is amazing and the beaches are empty. The one drawback is that the dining options are limited

Also went to local cafes and super market. Lots of shops shut as out of season (july) but still enough to enjoy a mooch around

Kingscote is a good base to explore KI. More time would be needed if you wanted to do the adventure stuff or family stuff. Visiting in late Autumn meant we were not interested in a lot of the water activities. Very pretty coastline.

We used Kingscote as our base and found it quite central to all the touring we did
Thought there would be more food outlets for dinner but we managed with what was on offer
There is a supermarket if we’d chosen to cook our own meals

Kingscote is the absolute heart of KI.
Kingscote is the absolute heart of KI. Has awesome Restaurants and Cafes (Amadios Vino e Cucina, the Ozone Hotel and So Sando) and is so close to some awesome wineries (Bay of Shoals and The Islander) and KI Spirits, not to mention the KI Brewery. Awesome anytime of year. Be sure to take a drive from the Esplanade seaside to Bay of Shoals, the views are stunning.
After booking, we found out that our ferry trip would mean a much later arrival than expected. The hosts took it in their stride, reassuring us that the late arrival wasn't a problem. The friendly greeting by the host with a loaf of sourdough was truly appreciated. The accommodation was convenient to the town of Kingscote and we frequently walked into the centre. The bedding arrangements suited a family of five and the privacy made our stay feel just like home.
Marcie and Chris were perfect hosts who supplied us with a great platform to explore Kangaroo Island. They supplied us with lots of extras like bread, butter, milk, wine bait, fresh garden vegetables. Nothing was too much trouble washing, giving us powder and pegs and samples of home made biltong ( dried meat). This was the best place, very clean, quiet and just out of Kingscote on average. Cheers Ian and Colleen.
Location and view Friendly magpie chorus in the morning The wallabies and kangaroos come close to the house
Very quiet and peaceful Bed was comfortable and good shower Very clean and relaxing
Lots of wildlife The host told us how to get down to the steps to the beach as it requires walking on a track on another property with permission Only short drive to Kingscote and the nearby gin distillery
Our stay at the villas in Kingscote was highly enjoyable - the place was very clean and large, with great storage spaces. It also offered and excellent view of the sunrise and truly felt like a home. We had a great time staying here, and look forward to coming again in the future. The owners are so friendly and kind, and also gave us free delicious sourdough.
Brett was such a great host, very welcoming and friendly. The cabin was so cute, clean and perfect for our little getaway. The Cabin is conveniently located in Brownlow and offers plenty of privacy. We really enjoyed eating breakfast on the verandah. It was the perfect base being so very close to Kingscote and it's amenities.
The Lazaret was a well maintained, clean, neat & tidy property close to the main town centre of Kingscote. It was quite cold at the time of our stay & the reverse cycle air conditioning heated up the house quickly - fantastic!
It was spacious for our needs & we would definitely stay there again & recommend it to others.
Great location to Kingscote town, easily walkable to many spots in town. Owners were really friendly and super welcoming. The facilities are shared with other rooms (bathrooms and kitchen) but they were always clean, and clean towels provided. Beds were very comfy. Definitely great value and a lovely stay!
The location is excellent if you want a quiet holiday within walking distance of Kingscote. The house had all the comforts for a family holiday. We as a family enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend this property. Thank you to Phillip and Susan who were always more than accommodating for our needs.
The location was great, close enough to Kingscote for meals and other supplies. A very quiet spot on a no thru road almost adjacent to the waterfront. The rear deck area is well appointed and the front porch has great views for relaxing. The house had all of the things we needed in it.
Definitely the location, as it is in the heart of Kingscote within walking distance everywhere. The apartment was well equipped with everything one would need for any term stay. The BBQ area had a nice dining table outside too. The shower "room" was great as well being super spacious.
We liked the kitchen facilities, and having Stan and YouTube etc, free on TV. The proximity to Kingscote, was a major reason for us. The property for the price was exceptional, We fully enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it for others.
Location was handy for tastings near Kingscote. It was also walkable into Kingscote.
The house was spacious and clean. The large square dining table was good for playing board games.
Beds were good. Fridge spacious. Dishwasher handy.
The location is only about 2 klm's out of the main town of Kingscote and was very quiet. The house itself was well appointed and the bathroom looks to have been recently renovated. The rear deck was enormous and well equiped.
Friendly and welcoming staff, dated hotel but room was clean and tidy, excellent shower with strong water pressure, fast internet, walk trails along the coastline in front of the hotel, daily housekeeping.
beautiful view- ocean front! the beds and linen were the most comfortable I’ve had in a hotel/ motel and such a cute interior design! incredible stay and so clean.
Proximity to the main business centre of Kingscote while also affording great views across green space to the ocean. Very well equipped. Heating in every room.
