Pretty disappointed with the rooms. We checked in later than normal and there were no keys or instructions on how to get the keys. When we finally got it from the safe, it took us 5 mins fumbling trying to open the door! Both rooms were the same! The taps in the shower and sink were loose and moving and we had to hold it down in order to operate it. One of the rooms bathroom door wouldn’t fully shut as the slide door was stuck. TVs in the rooms weren’t working either? The hot water urn wasn’t turned on for coffee/tea in the morning making us guess and turn it on ourselves. Milk ran out and no replacement.

Great place to stay for a small remote town.
Great place to stay for a small remote town. Plenty of dining options. We enjoyed visith the Shearing, WWII POW and Old Gaol museums and a short drive up the highway to the sunset viewing area over the vast plains.

Hay is a great town with loads of history and town-proud residents. It's worth stopping in and spending a bit of time is you can afford to. Make sure you drop into the Hay RSL Services Club for a drink or a meal. The club is very welcoming.

Hay is a great stop over for your road trip.
Hay is a great stop over for your road trip. Time to rest and enjoy a walk around the town and beautiful park settings with friendly ducks keeping watch over their young. Restaurants in the area certainly know how to feed hungry road travellers. The Pizza takeaway in Lachlan street, is not to be missed. Friendly atmosphere and tidy town with history looked after in every way. You have to stop here.

Hay is a lovely heritage town located at an important road network junction. It provides the perfect place to stay enroute from Sydney to Adelaide. IGA supermarket has been recently upgraded and is close by.

On this occasion we did not have time to stay longer in Hay,...
On this occasion we did not have time to stay longer in Hay, so cant give a useful comment. However, when we found ourselves ALMOST without a bed, a motel owner generously rang around, and found an appropriate room for us for the night. As is generally the situation, the country people often go out of their way to assist people. We certainly want to go back there and spend at least a fulll day exploring the region.
We had driven over 500kms in 40+ degree heat all day. We were met by the owner, who already had the air-con running and had put cold drinks in the fridge and ice-blocks in the freezer - best welcome ever!!!
The house was larger than I realised, with great outdoor areas too. The beds were very comfortable and it is great to have
a laundry to use when you stay a couple of days. Could not really fault anything!
We also had a great meal at the South Hay Hotel, just 500m down the road or a nice walk along the river to get there.
An immaculately clean and beautifully appointed unit, in a quiet pretty street only a block away from the main street and also the river. The hosts have gone the extra mile, so the place feels as comfortable as home but as well appointed as a luxury hotel room. It was perfect for my needs and it was a pleasure to spend time in the unit. There is an excellent range of food and drinks available, which proved very convenient as the grocery store was closed when I arrived in town.
Great breakfast - lots of options (crumpets and honey vs muesli vs toast etc etc - hard to choose!). Hosts very responsive to questions and helpful - also lots of info in the unit about what to do/eat/see in Hay. Appreciated the laundry facilities even though we didn't end up using them. Bed very comfortable and unit overall very stylish. The chocolates were an extra treat that we weren't expecting but really liked. Next time we hope to have more time to explore.
We didn't have the continental breakfast supplied, but it looked fine. Location was good, but from the outside it looked like a rather ancient hotel, no signage to say it was the motel, but on phoning for clarification, we were informed where to go to park our car and we were greeted there and taken through to reception and shown to our room. Bedroom very small, but adequate, beds very comfortable. The ensuite was huge and very clean. Very quiet at night.
Love that it's pet-friendly. The room was big enough for a one night stay with ample bathroom space. The air conditioner was a bit loud and the lights on it a bit bright, but it was a comfortable stay. NIce to have Netflix and other tv channels, but the connection was spotty at times. The location is ideal for our drive from Adelaide to Sydney and we love the people in Hay in the little shops on the street.
From the moment we booked through to our departure, we had a fantastic experience. Can't thank the staff enough for all their patience and assistance. We travelled with our dog, so they explained their policy carefully. The cabin was immaculate on arrival, and air conditioning was on so that we were cool immediately. Dog Park next to the park, which is super convenient. Would definitely stay here again.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and well appointed. The TV worked well and staff were helpful. It is walking distance to the South Hay Hotel and a two minute drive to the main street for coffee, breakfast and shops. While it is located on the Sturt Highway, the traffic noise was negligible. It was good value for the money.
Family room was quite spacious, neat and well-maintained. A children's playground and dog park are across the road. Motel is quite close to the Murrumbidgee river bridge and a beautiful riverside trail next to the bridge. Great for a stopover during Sydney to Adelaide road trip.
The Motel was exactly as described on the website. The rooms and toilet were immaculately clean. The bedding and linen were fresh. Even though the building is old, it is very well maintained and very comfortable to spend the night in. Great place for families and kids.
Hay is a beautiful town, but on this occasion for me it was just a rest stop en route from Adelaide to Sydney. I wanted an inexpensive place to get a good nights sleep and a pub meal. It did the job perfectly, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The quality of the rooms, friendliness and service of the staff and position in Hay was premium. Pam - you're a legend. Will happily stay here next time and would recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful part of the world.
Very pleasant motel for overnight stay en route from Adelaide to Canberra. Clean and comfortable. Walking distance to the pub for a good meal. Was good to get a nice spot in a very busy time of year (early Jan).
A good little motel. Comfortable bed. The kitchenette has been renovated. Excellent customer service. Great location for a travel break. Barbecue area a real bonus, too cold to try the pool though.
This is a little haven in the middle of the Hay Plain. Comfortable and welcoming after a long drive. The host has been super helpful following our stay as we left an item there.
Best pet friendly place on the highway for travellers. Super clean and comfy, for driving through stopovers or if ur visiting beautiful Hay it is absolutely perfect.
