A selection of outstanding museums in the context of a beautifully preserved historic town. The main street is delightful to walk along. Lots of wineries nearby to sample. Close enough to Mudgee to be convenient for excellent restaurants and don't miss the balloon ride at daybreak, it's brilliant.

The Pioneers Museum is interesting & extensive, even though there's a fair amount of repetition. The Holtermann Collection is well worth seeing. The 2 pubs we frequented (Centennial & Prince of Wales) had a good atmosphere & reasonable food. There's a good Thai restaurant for variety. Restaurants & pubs surprisingly busy for a country town.
The Drip (Goulburn River NP) is a lovely walk & not too hard; Hands on Rock (up the road from it) rather underwhelming.

A small historic village that has maintained its historic feel and look, yet offers all amenities that I needed. Plenty of places to eat and sip a coffee. We enjoyed a night at the Post Office Hotel - live music (not too intrusive) ,, lively atmosphere , really well cooked meal and, best of all, friendly, efficient staff.
The pioneer museum is massive and has something for everyone who enjoys delving into our history

Pioneer Museum was a must see/do. Allow 2 hours.
Pioneer Museum was a must see/do. Allow 2 hours.
Ten Dollar Motel had an inclusive b’fast. It was a full b’fast with variety of meals.
Staff were welcoming and chatty at b’fast. We dined there the night before. It was very convenient to Motel (across the road).
Gulgong footpaths are unique. Find out why at Pioneer Museum.
Everything. Was a great stay and the location was great for our time in Gulgong and Mudgee. Lovely place to stay. Small but nice country town, everything in walking distance. Friendly locals. The Prince of Wales Hotel is where you check in and also is great for dinner in the restaurant. Will return again. Short drive to Mudgee and others areas. Nice clean open space, easy to relax. Didn't want to go home.
The room was clean and what you would expect when compared to other motels around a similar price, I would stay again. Gulgong is just down the road from Mudgee (20 minute drive) so it’s a good spot if in the area and don’t want to pay Mudgee hotel prices. It’s short walk in to Gulgong centre for the pub/food in the evening.
Beautiful cottage with stunning views. Amazingly peaceful, even with guests staying in the other apartments.
We enjoyed swimming in the pool, meeting the resident goats, stargazing at night...
The perfect base to explore Mudgee and Gulgong, and escape from the city for a few days. I would definitely stay here again!
My one week stay at Gulgong Tourist Park was very relaxing. The cleanliness, security, and quiet situation made my stay very comfortable. There is excellent access to all amenities, and staff were great. I was able to park right out front of my unit, which suits me very nicely.
The room was super big, air con ,electric blankets kept me toasty warm in the middle of winter. Shared bathroom was clean. The Parent pub Prince of Wales Hotel had a great bistro and James Henry Newtowner on tap (sweet).
it’s a delightful cottage. it has three bedrooms. The shower is over the bathtub but it is lovely and hot. It is walking distance into the village of Gulgong. it was in a quiet street.
Quirky accommodation with a warm and friendly feeling, of many old souls through the doors.. The room was large and beds were super comfortable.. wished we had stayed longer...
It wasn’t amazing place to stay….so close to everything in Gulgong. The breakfast was amazing, and it was included in the price. Will definitely stay again.
