I do the Ironman event each year. I plan to come back and stay for a holiday lots to see, I love the bats and the Botanical garden. The swim circle thing is excellent although has a strong urine smell near the facilities.
Lots of paths for cycling and the Barwon river has an excellent walking track all along. Great place for active people.
If you're into food then you're in for a treat, lots of cafe and restuarants offering a great range of quality foods. I had some delicious crepes on the foreshor.

Geelong city is a very nice place.
Geelong city is a very nice place. It has a long fresh air beach with a lot of seagulls flying around and basking in the sun. It is a city for people who love running and cycling. A city where you can come back to nature with many kinds of birds such as Cockatoos, Magpies...

I stayed the night as I was catching the Spirit of Tasmania early the following morning. I would have been very happy to have spent longer to explore Geelong. Where I stayed was very convenient, quiet and easy walking distance to restaurants.

The waterfront is lovely; Eastern beach has beautiful park surrounds that reflect an elegance of an earlier era; many restaurants with great cuisine; art galleries; the botanic gardens are delightful.

Melbourne without the crowds.
Melbourne without the crowds. There are some great restaurants and cafe's in Geelong but without having to deal with the crowds of Melbourne. If you want to go to Melbourne we got a train which was easy and comfortable and took around 50 minutes. Great wineries nearby and if you want a day trip Great Ocean Road or Otway National Park are within a couple of hours drive.
Close to Geelong Waterfront and city center with views of the bay. Also close to Botanical Gardens.
Some people may not like the 'retro' look of the place as it hasn't had any updates since built in about 1950!! Ohh! It does have reverse cycle air con!! There is a gas heater that works very well too.
However, everything works just fine anyway, and the price reflects the fact that you are not getting anything ultra-modern, but you are getting a great location!
It took me back to when my parents used to take us on trips. It's a beautiful old fashioned motel and is one of the cleanest and loveliest we have seen in a very long time. Management is so friendly and if want to know what's on in Geelong he is the go to man. The location is perfect it's walking distance to Rippleside beach and restaurants. It's serviced daily and is so clean. Highly recommend this property and the management. Ten out of the ten.
The building is spectacular. The best rebuild and renovation I have ever seen. Great beds, fine linen, great heating and quality fittings. For my disabled colleague, the shower was accessible and a pleasure to use. Secure parking is appreciated and the locale excellent. Absolutely amazing space with modern and tasteful, furniture, including controlled blinds.
A wonderful secret place to enjoy Geelong. close to waterfront too!
Great stay. Close to the waterfront and centre of town. Beautiful appointed room and private parking a bonus. We came mainly to see our niece race in the Cadel Evans tour. Was pleasantly surprised by Geelong and surroundings. Nice cafes, restaurants, wineries, distilleries, walks and some beautiful shops in Torquay, Barwon Heads and Point Lonsdale. Good overal vibe. Will definitely come back for another weekend away.
Everything!! From the top notch customer service and friendly staff, to the amazing breakfast buffet and the fine dining experience. Can’t forget about the pool area. super relaxing and the outside amenities where outstanding.
I will 100% rebook with Rydges next time in in Geelong and will check out their other hotels around Aus.
10/10 all round.
Really lovely hotel / serviced apartment. The facilities are very clean and well-looked after. The location is probably the best. A short walk to the forefront with great swimming, and turn the other way and you're in Geelong CBD. A coffee machine is a nice touch. We were 1 adult and 2 kids in the loft apartment and we were very comfortable.
Location at waterfront precinct. Easy check-in and out. Clean room and bathroom. Daily room service clean. Very quiet with no traffic noise. Good facilities available for guests.
we needed to stay back 30 minutes, it was just unfortunate that this has been one of the only hotels we stayed in that charged us to stay the extra 30 minutes. $20 as well.
The Novotel is arguably the best located Hotel in Geelong with Eastern Beach and some retail stores at the front and easy access to Westfield Shopping Centre in the rear.
Anchor Geelong room 5, amenities good, bed comfortable though poly quilt, extra blankets in box. Shower good pressure, iron, good location, various early opening cafes 7
The house was very lovely and cozy, great for families or group of friends. Owners were nice. Easy check-in and check-out. Clean. Would stay again if in Geelong.
short stroll to the bay promenade, which was fantastic...Geelong was a real surprise packet for us ...such a beautiful waterfront /piers/restaurants/bars....
