This little town is a memory of the 1960’s & 1970’s - Dimboola was on everyone’s lips - what a play! I remember a night out in Newtown Sydney in the ‘80’s replicating this. The town now, with its 70’s bric-a-brac stores, takes us right back there. The pub is the place to be in the Wimmera (or any where else for that matter!)

This town has so much potential, loads of old buildings, good coffee, breakfast, excellent pub which is a must visit. There is even a taxi service if you want to have a few drinks. I will be calling back there again for sure. There's only one motel which is quite dated but suits the purpose for one night and its quiet which is the best thing, off the highway. I also believe there is other accommodation there in private places which I might be checking out. They got a story in the latest Outback Magazine Aug/Sept 2023, so I think things are really starting to happen there.

Small but rather nice little town, quiet, slow atmosphere.

Small but rather nice little town, quiet, slow atmosphere. Ideal for the Pink lake and Little Desert. Probably the only negative and it's hardly important was the pharmacy. Very unfriendly lady and serious price gouging.... the most expensive rats I found anywhere, and this at a time when shortage of supply was long over.

Dimboola is a largely unknown gem as a holiday destination.

Dimboola is a largely unknown gem as a holiday destination. The Wimmera River, Little Desert National Park and Snape Reserve are fantastic areas of bushland habitat for birds, kangaroos and wallabies. The township is in the process of transforming and now has a very nice coffee shop/cafe (Dimboola Store) and the Victoria Hotel provides excellent pub meals. There are some quirky shops like the Dimboola Imaginarium, and interesting historical exhibits (the Nolan Gallery, Dimboola Print Museum and Historical Society museum), although you may need an appointment to get into these. Nearby Jeparit has the amazing Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum, a whole historical village!

Fantastic for a walkabout male like me.

Fantastic for a walkabout male like me. But if you like to eat out, finding something open apart from the Bakery from Sunday to Wednesday is pretty much impossible. Riverside Caravan Park and Bowling Club both great. Badly needs a non-casual-tourism purpose to exist, especially with the Melb-Adelaide road and the train line. An indigenous tour both around town and into the Desert would be tops. Shops were mainly closed or seemingly abandoned. No way to rent bikes, river craft, fishing gear, or to buy much of a non-Bakery meal Sun to Wed. IGA store is great!

Dimboola, has unfortunately been bypassed by time and is run down like many small country towns in Australia, with little to offer except for the once magnificent Victoria Hotel which is well worth a look and serves great food. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Very pleasant welcome and a bright, attractive room that appeared to have been recently updated. A good night's sleep on a comfy bed. Suitcase rack and usual motel basics. Recommend the butter fish n chips from the Dimboola Cafe - delicious, light n crispy batter and tasty flesh.

The Desert Fox was outstanding value for money. Clean and comfortable with all the comforts of your own home. Dimboola has so much to offer to both single travelers and families. Enjoy the river , sporting facilities and the peace and quiet of this gem of the Wimmera.

The staff were very friendly and informative & our room was very clean and stayed cool even though it was hot outside. The location is good, it's just off the main highway and a 3 minute drive from the Main Street of Dimboola.

Large room, with fairly comfortable beds. Far enough distance from main road that could not hear traffic. Had basic necessities. Whilst room did not have its own microwave, a amenities room a few units down had them.
