Now, we were there for work, and I managed to get sick, so I missed out on a few attractions, but Coona seems like a nice, friendly town. My family managed to get to see one of the observatories, and see some of the planets in real life, including Saturn's rings, so they were absolutely stoked. Apparently a new telescope will be operating there soon, with even better views.

Good sized town with lots of accommodation options.
Good sized town with lots of accommodation options. Good supermarket in town and options for fuel. Excellent bakery and other food options right in town. Great base for visits to the Warrumbungle NP and the Pilliga Scrub NP. A Dark Sky town with information easily obtained. Felt comfortable walking around town after business hours.
We rate Coonabarabran one of the most welcoming and traveller friendly regional towns in NSW. The Motel manager was very helpful in providing directions, maps and information of the town and the region. The room was generous in size, very clean, quiet, with basic amenities provided. Very comfortable bed [best we had on our travels through NSW] . Short walk to town, cafes, service stations and shops.
I liked the fact that I could stay in this lovely B&B for one night which is usually not possible, two nights minimum, I was driving through Coonabarabran on my way to Adelaide, So it was a relief not to have to stay in another impersonal motel. The other guests were charming and Grace the owner joined us for breakfast which was provided. the value was amazing. thank you
Grace.
The room and bathroom were very clean. There were plenty of bathroom amenities supplied. Beautiful Bath Sheets and face washers. Good quality bed linen and a very large comfortable bed. Easy walking distance to clubs, pubs, and shops. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to book accommodation in Coonabarabran it is by far the best motel in town.
The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was functional. Access and parking was very good. Although there are not many restaurants in town they are all an easy walk from the hotel and local food was very good. There is a large Woolworths shop within 500 meters from the hotel and the National Park is an easy drive away.
Perfect distance between Coonabarabran and the Warrumbungles. The pool was great in the hot weather. Nice property to walk around and nice open sky views at night.
There were some let downs but this place is ideally located and we might stay here again. Hopefully the management fix the issues we encountered.
Despite the central location, The Imperial Hotel was very quiet at night. The rooms are minimalistic but comfortable - including the bed. The water pressure and shower head in the shower was good. The lounge area and kitchen was a nice touch - including a large fridge for storage.
Nothing flash, but everything was absolutely fine. The cost of the hotel suited our budget for the night on the way to Canberra. The location was fine, did not hear any transport going by despite on main road in/out of town. Reasonably close to cafes/restaurants.
A new bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean and well kept and was the right size for me and the wife who in some hotels we stayed in didn't bump into each other.
