It’s our fourth time here.
We loved Blackheath - best walks - Grand Canyon and Govet’s Leap
We also love Katoomba - many walks and lookouts
And Wentworth Falls is just a short drive or train trip to the East
So much choice, so much beauty.
Walks galore - so awe inspiring.
Peace and relaxation - perfect 4 days/3nights
Easy access by train.
But PLEASE take water with you on your walks, preferably with an electrolyte supplement. Australia can get hot, there are no taps along the walks (it’s a national park) and the walks are fairly long (3-4hrs). We saw a few people looking lightheaded and weary from dehydration - fortunately we had spare water to share.

Lovely town with lots of local stores and breathtaking views. I would say even better than Katoomba. Friendly locals. Nice walking through the town, everyone had beautiful gardens, you could tell they really make an effort to make them stunning. I recommend sunrise at Govetts Leap Lookout, hiking in Katoomba either using Scenic world facilities for less mobile visitors or challenge yourself for a long hike around a valley. We finished our afternoon/evening at Japanese Bath House (30 min away) which was great recovery after hiking. Next day morning we visited Botanical garden which was again so beautiful with no entrance fee.

Coming back to life.
Coming back to life. A few empty shops but still a fair bit to see. Coffee places are good.Close to other centre town.areas. I have planned a second trip back in the next month or so.
The Gold club was handy for very nice bistro food. Need a car to get around. Given I was here on a Friday and Saturday it wasn't too busy.

It's less trendy than other lower mountain destinations - less like Sydney - a greater variety of restaurants & coffee shops & book shop & antique centre
Lots of easy street walks and for the fitter many bush walks
More laid back and a quieter community

Blackheath is a beautiful mountains village.
Blackheath is a beautiful mountains village.
Walking the streets takes you past early style, nicely renovated mountain homes and beautiful gardens. There are quality cafes, restaurants and gift shops. My visit in October was lovely and warm, but not hot, and cooler overnight.
The train station is convenient to the town centre.

Blackheath is on the Blue Mts train line and quite accessible but a car is of help if you wish to visit other points along the line eg Katoomba and Leura, Megalong Valley or Jenolan Caves. A car is also a necessity if you are into hiking the trails as most are not near public transport. Blackheath has a great village atmosphere - pubs, antiques, retail and more and is a more economical place to centre yourself than Katoomba or Leura. In itself it is a walkable village.
The rooms had character and were well equipped. The kitchenette facilities were good and the breakfast ingredients were tasty and plentiful. There were lovely touches, such as the provision of mince pies and a Christmas pudding. The owner went 'above and beyond' giving us lifts into Blackheath (which was also walkable). The cottage is very well placed for the Grand Canyon walk and in easy reach of many other trails.
Park View Cottage is an exceptional beautiful place and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It’s super clean, the beds are very comfortable and the location is great to discover the Blue Mountains but also when you have children as the park is down the road. Daniel, the host is very responsive and helps where he can. I can highly recommend staying at Park View Cottage. I loved our stay and we will be back.
Calamandah House was chosen for its location in Blackheath, which made it accessible to the Blue Mts walking tracks as this was largely a hiking holiday. The three bedrooms met the requirements of three individual adults ( as we were). The house is extremely well equipped in all respects, including an interesting library. Well kept grounds which would be quite picturesque in spring.
Location is an easy 10 minute walk to village with shops and restaurants. Can recommend Thai Silk.
Beautiful garden which will be fabulous in spring. Very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen large dining table to accommodate a group. Lovely additional accommodation in the cottage to suit a group of eight altogether.
Great price for good quality rooms without unnecessary luxury (nonsense). Great location for exploring nature. Quiet lounge area great for getting some study done.
I would have spent a couple of hours engaged in some social intercourse at the hotel bar had it not been for a minor cold affecting the nose and feet.
We love the amazing design, giving the house a vintage vibe and comfy to live in. It also provides us with everything we need and is also pet-friendly which makes our holiday trip a whole lot easier as many others do not allow pets. The location is also convenient to get food--only 15 minutes away from Katoomba.
Very clean and attention to detail such as fresh flowers . Linen was hotel quality .
Private location including enclosed garden and covered outdoor area .
Host very friendly and helpful .
Provided specifically requested milk and decaf tea .
Quiet location .
Close to the train station and shops .
Location was perfect as we were keen to discover more walks around Blackheath.
The property had such a beautiful garden, and I loved the peace it provided. I loved that as soon as I walked in the door I felt at home and it was cosy. The cottage was better than the what photos provided.
Loved everything about this cute little suite in the middle of Blackheath, and it's dog-friendly. The garden is lovely and its a cosy, neat, cleverly laid out cottage. Suzie is a great host and super friendly but gives you complete privacy.
Great value for a last minute long weekend booking. Initially worried about noise as next to main road but no issues with sleep at all. The room are older but extremely clean.
Very friendly family run Motel. Usual amenities supplied in the room
Situated in a quiet area of Blackheath and well placed for touring round the area of the Blue Mountains
It was only a short walk into Blackheath which had lots of places to eat. Very conveniently located in the Blue Mountains. Lots of suggestions for places to visit
Central location for sightseeing and bush walking Blue Mountains around Blackheath. Handy barbecue area and communal kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff.
