We only stayed two nights.
We only stayed two nights. We went to see the seals at Cape Turnagain which was very lovely. We were warned that it is a 10km return walk along the beach, which sounded very much. But as you do the walk when the tide is out and the sand is very compacted, even I, with my walking difficulties, managed to do it in 1h 45 min (albeit with the aid of walking poles).
The other reason for our stay was to visit Mount Bruce & Pukaha National Wildlife centre, which we didn't think overly much of with regards to the animal displays. We had a lovely walk through the forest though and the feeding of the eels was very interesting. The lady who did it was a very informative, funny and passionnate presenter. This actually made the visit worthwhile.
We found a very good restaurant called "Barrelhouse" with really friendly staff and excellent food for dinner.
We had two very nice breakfasts at Sammy's in 146 High Street.
