The Pancake Rocks walking track was fantastic and the Blow Holes were amazing. The Truman Track through native bush was awesome. Cafe reasonable and pub good but expensive food and drinks. Spectacular rock formations all around the area.Raincoats recommended - you never know when it will rain.

We loved our visit to Punakaika rocks and worth a detour. We liked the house except we are too old for having to go up and down steep stairs during the night. We were not warned about this. We ate at the local scenic hotel and this was reasonable and pleasant

The Pancake Rocks are overwhelming beautiful, almost an alien place on earth. We went there at the end of the day (low tide) and came back in the morning (high tide). The power of the waves was incredible.

What a delightful natural attraction - the pancake rocks are incredible. The garden tavern is very welcoming and the food was good. We stayed in the cute beachfront cabin and could walk to the beach, the pancake rocks, garden tavern and info centre from there. The Pancake Rocks Cafe needs a good shake up, the pancakes were terrible - undercooked and the banana was bad.

Great option for a short one night, or even longer stay.

Great option for a short one night, or even longer stay. The small compound of self contained units was very lovely. Even though all the cottages were occupied, it was peaceful and I could have sat out on the deck for much longer to enjoy the sound of the waves on the beach. We ate at the main hotel/restaurant in a lovely secluded garden. Even though it's right on the main road, the garden gives you a sense of peaceful tranquility. There's not much to do in the area, but for sure a 1 or 2 night stay is perfect here. We had room #10 & it was absolutely perfect

We visited the Rocks along the road - always an interesting visit, and spent a lot of time in Barrytown for a friends wedding. Always take mozzie spray or insect repellant! We took our own breakfast items and ate out the rest of the time - the pub at the other end of the village has a good range of food as does the cafe at the Rocks

Been here once before, but on this occasion stayed in a room up on the hill with a balcony and an excellent view overlooking the beach! Awesome location in the Punakaiki and not far from local blow holes and other amenities! If you're lucky enough, the sunset on the beach is a must see opportunity. The room is spacious enough, clean and the beds are nice & comfy! I enjoyed my stay, so did my kids and I reckon we'd be keen on coming back!

The Nikau studio was truly a treehouse with a spacious deck high up in the lush West Coast bush. Private location a few minutes drive from Punakaiki. Wekas and birdsong. Well furnished kitchenette for self-catering. The Miro room is an accessible room on the ground level- choose the Rimu or Nikau rooms for the treehouse experience. Would stay here again. .

Little cottage with charm and character, especially the outdoor bath. Equipped with everything we needed. Easy walk to the Pancake Rocks and center. The main road is not an issue. Bear in mind there are no grocery stores in Punakaiki, so bring your own supplies.

When visiting Punakaiki this is a good place to spend the night. Individual cottages, near to the beach and the pancake rocks. Spacious and in the middle of a forested area. We were warmly welcomed and directed to secluded beach near the cottages.

Nice coastal beachfront location, and the pub along the road served great meals. Also within walking distance to the Punakaiki Rocks and the Pororahi River walk (linking to the Paparoa Track). A nice wild beach to walk along!
