He made us feel quite welcome, a nice relaxed vibe.

He made us feel quite welcome, a nice relaxed vibe. And because he stayed on site but in his own private quarters it really doesn't feel like you're imposing. After a quick introduction and where the amenities are we are left to relax and unwind taking in the lovely modern spacious home and the gorgeous view in the distance of Paritutu Rock and the New Plymouth Power Station chimney. Dinner not fine dinning. Other guests staying at the same accommodation ate at Salt and Frederics. We had takeaways two nights one was Spotswood Takeaways where the gurnard was gorgeous and St Pierre's Sushi and Bento Bowl. The chicken teriyaki and rice was gorgeous, with succulent chicken and tasty ginger and spices. Order the regular as a very generous helping. We would leave each day not exactly back the way we'd arrived but to save heading into town the long way we would turn left after the golf course and stick to that Carrington road, don't forget the turn off on the return or you'll end up at Pukeiti gardens or the Pouakai Zoo, one of two in the city.

This property was at the very end of Mangorei Road, as close to the mountain as you can get from that direction. There are walking tracks starting close by, for trekking along the foothills and up Mount Taranaki. The property is in private land in the countryside, about half an hour's drive from New Plymouth.
