What a wondeeful stay we enjoyed. A lovely spacious home that was well-appointed and peaceful. The facilities were excellent from the Nespresso Machine in the kitchen to the washer and dryer in the laundry. Had it been colder there was a log burner too. There is a lovely spacious deck to sit out front and beautiful views of the hills. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable.

Kurow is pleasant as a destination, but you need to drive to see various sites such as elephant rocks and the clay cliffs. There were a number of eateries at Kurow and a small well stocked supermarket.

Looking at the old shops and walking around yesteryear. We brought food from the local superette and cooked it back at the motel All very handy. Yes its very easy to get around Kurow - comfortable stroll down both sides of the streets and pubs at both ends (for the drinkers) ;) Wouldn't avoid anything in particular It was all fun! This was a special trip for me back to my old home town at Otematata a few miles West. The Kurow motel was the ONLY place that we could stay with our dog. Much appreciated!

I'm a bit biased as I was born there many years ago (did'nt live there). The locals were great at the gift shop and the museum. The local boutique winer a few minutes out of town was also absolutely lovely and relaxing. Great wine and food.

A small town with some interesting history, the building of the Waitaki dam and the birthplace of social security in New Zealand. My grandfather was a doctor in Kurow in the 1920's-30's during the dam building and helped set up the local medical insurance scheme there. We also left some artefacts of granddad's with the Kurow museum. This was the purpose of our visit.
