Location was perfect for walking to the Seal Colony along the path and the beach . The front Desk hours were very limited and the breakfast left a bit to be desired . But the location and the quaint courtyard make up for its downfalls.

Enjoyed the whale watching tour - the day was reasonably calm so no one was seasick thank goodness. Staff were informatiive and shared the story of the whales and dolphins. The map showing us the travel route was very helpful to understand the trnech and which direction and area we were headed to.

Kaikoura is a 2 hr drive from our home, so we regularly visit for long weekends. It's a special part of NZ where people and nature can interact. There's something special about how the mountains meet the sea. And of course the fresh seafood is spectacular

WhaleWatch trip was very good.
WhaleWatch trip was very good. Great cafes: Flo and Co has excellent coffee. Sime's Kitchen had great breakfast and lunch - vegan choices were delicious. Tipsy Foodies also recommended. Southern Paua shop and factory highly recommended - amazing range of jewellery, carvings and gifts. Some exquisite pounamu too. Best place to buy gifts in Kaikoura!!
Novel Findings is a great bookshop and homewares shop - don't miss it!
Loved the Ngāi Tahu artworks beside the highway, murals on the railway bridge and buildings. It's really worth checking the "Neat Places Kaikoura" website - lots of great suggestions for cool places and things to do in Kaikoura.

Very easy to find way to attractions, town lovely and clean.Plenty of eating places, ones we used were all excellent and value for money.Only thing we regretted was we missed the Whale Watch tour as it was blowing hard both full days we were there and there were no sailings. Will have to go back again.
It was an excellent place to stay. Very spacious, very clean and the nearby beach and scenery was beautiful. A pleasant walk along the beach was so relaxing. Had a little problem to get in the house, but a quick call to the staff solved the problem. The beds were very comfortable. The location was good - quiet neighbourhood yet just a short driving distance to the town area. Superb experience for our family of seven. Highly recommended for families visiting the Kaikoura area.
Water Pressure in the shower was divine! Pub attached to the hotel was very convenient and the food was delicious! 11/10 recommend the sticky date pudding! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds are gorgeous and being situated a little out of Kaikoura makes it feel like an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life with the added bonus of being a 5 minute drive from the supermarket, beach and township.
Lovely upstairs rom with a mountain and sea view. The room is basic, just space for the bed and a central heating radiator but for $68 won't find better in Kaikouora. Communal Kitchen and dining area are excellent, large and clean. Couple of settees too. 5 minute walk into Kaikoura centre, Westend. Paid cash for the room, no credit card rip offs, nice.
Stunning location, with incredible views from our room. Tony and Barb were very accommodating hosts, and the room was very comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. The motel is a very short distance from all the major things to do and see in Kaikoura, would highly recommend.
Our flight was delayed for a day so we had to cancel the room on the checkin date which should be charged.
The hotel well understood us and agreed to waive this fee. Thank you for prompt response and support.
We will choose your hotel again in our next trip to NZ.
Very warm, friendly, cosy hostel. Quiet, nice rooms, clean spacious kitchen, nice addition of a fireplace when it was cold and raining outside. Great outdoor space to relax in, and very well located near the town's shops and the ocean. Cheap laundry too!
🔸The location: Nice view and super convenient (close to restaurants, supermarket, the train station, the bus stop and Seal Kayak Kaikoura)
🔸The staff: Super friendly and helpful! Thank you so much!♥️
🔸The price: Reasonable price👍
The place is just a short drive from Kaikoura main hub. Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Judy the host is kind and helpful. Ample parking available. Nice continental breakfast and great view from the breakfast area!
location next to the pier hotel is brilliant (best place for crayfish dinner in Kaikoura and always busy). Beds were super comfortable and the overall facilities are great. Hosts were extremely friendly and accomodating.
Nice quiet location with access to the beach across the street. perfect for a pre dinner walk. Enjoyed being away from busy Kaikoura, but yet close. Be sure to walk the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway - it was wonderful!
Fabulous drive around the wild coast-line. Loved the long walk around the Kaikoura Peninsula. Loads of seals and pups. Pre-dinner drink, then smoked meats and salad at "Slam". The pier hotel also fab for all seafoods.
i love the location. its a front beach property and near from the train and bus station. If you wanna stay here, i suggest you to book a Kaikoura taxi from your current location (e.g from train station to the hotel).
New and tidy hotel just by the water in Kaikoura. Specious rooms with big windows so even without sea view you could get a glimpse of the sea. Nice little pool on the property. Friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely stay Reception was welcoming and helpful The unit was warm, comfortable, clean and tidy After staying in 3 previous horels/motels on our journey south it was an absolute god send
