Beautiful coutryside to walk around and explore. Nice, well appointed cottage but don't expect luxury. The owners are better at sheep farming than as accommodation hosts. I would still go back now knowing what to expect, it is in such a beautiful and peaceful location.

Beaches and walks around the area are lovely.
Beaches and walks around the area are lovely. Would definitely recommend Cape Farewell & Milnthorpe Park Arboretum. The locals were really friendly and the meals were lovely at the hotel just around the corner and The Courthouse Cafe was really nice for breakfast.

You can walk through the village without traffic noise or intrusive people. The town engenders a relaxed feeling.
Those working in the local Tavern or general businesses are friendly and knowledgeable.
It is the perfect spot for beginning the world renowned Farewell Spit tour.

Lovely wee spot.
Lovely wee spot. Nice place to be based when exploring the area especially Farewll Spit. Lots of history in the area.
Friendly locals, good food and service in cafes and restaurants. Remember to bring rain coats as weather can be changeable. Don't be in a hurry because a long walk along the beach is an absolute must.

If you travel this far you need to stay for af least two nights to do all the things that are close by. You will need one day just to do the Cape Farewell Spit tour if you want to do it justice. The other day would be spent driving/walking between the beaches and cliff lookouts. If you wanted to take a boat trip into Abel Tasman, that would be another day! Too much to see, not enough time.

The drive there is very hilly and takes longer than you imagine. Do not drive in the late afternoon, as the road faces west and the sun makes the hairpin bends tricky. Do visit Salisbury Bridge and Falls, it is in a scene in Lord of the Rings. On the way back stop and have tea and scones at the country store
Do visit the two museums, fascinating glimpse of its past
We had a wonderful stay at Twin Waters Lodge. Trish and Mike are fabulous hosts, and looked after us and the other guests beautifully. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the ensuite bathroom modern and well designed. The guest lounge/kitchen is great and it was lovely to prepare a couple of light meals there so we weren’t having to eat out all the time. The lodge is quiet but an easy 10 mins drive from Collingwood. It’s also great for getting to Farewell Spit. We had 3 nights there and loved every minute.
We adored everything about this place, the view, the chalet, bathroom the breakfast basket delivered the night before. We cooked on the bbq quite a bit too. Loved we could do laundry freely after 5pm. The owners and staff were all super lovely too. It was spotlessly clean and really felt 5 star. We also really liked the area close to collingwood and farewell spit.
Great location, a very short walk to the shops & tavern in Collingwood. Good off street parking, great host, always available to answer questions and recommend places to visit. The Sunrise Suite is aptly named with the sun rising out of Golden Bay straight out the windows of the room, nice small deck for sitting outside. Would definitely stay there again.
Friendly staff and plenty of room. Picnic tables down by the water are perfect for a coffee/wine in the sun. Across the road from the Farewell Spit Eco Tours office so very handy if you're on that. (Which you shouldn't miss- it's a wonderful experience!) Great cafe also across the road. Collingwood is a lovely peaceful spot.
Spacious bright room for a mother and adult daughter. Short walk to Farewell Spit Tour bus and Collingwood township. Close walk to beach for walking, birds and driftwood. A ten minute drive to The Mussel Inn for dinner one night and an excellent meal at The Mad Cafe in Collingwood the second night.
The place location was perfect in a quiet Collingwood. The town has a lots of history and is located in the center of the Golden Bay. There is a short driving distance to Wharariki Beach and Cape Farewell. You can see swimming seals in the Wharariki Beach pools.
Property was well managed; staff very pleasant. Stayed an extra night. Location was convenient to the beach, park attractions and Collingwood restaurants, groceries and petrol. Kitchenette had the basics.
We loved the location of the retreat on the headland above the beach near Collingwood in Golden Bay. Also having our own cabin in the forest and that the accommodation is dog-friendly.
Really cozy Appartement, located in a bunch of Houses a few Meters from the collingwood Road.
Basically directly in the "Jungle".
The apt was really good equipped and Clean.
Staff were friendly, Unit was comfortable, quiet and exceptionally clean.
Situated in the middle of Collingwood and handy to the Farewell Spit Tour headquarters.
