We spent 3 nights in Agen. Super city full of history. Information and maps available from the very helpful tourist office.
Canal du Midi passes through the town and it has a cycle path - Voie Verte on both sides.
For driving the centre is car free and a lot of the streets are one way!!

Agen is a bland town or city.
Agen is a bland town or city. However, having spent all night out on the streets the mild weather gives it a feeling less fear of dying. I spoke to people - I only saw males and I am a female. I was vulnerable but not under threat. A couple of people I spoke to in my very poor French with my native English and lots of body language, were lovely and approachable. However, there with storms in the night there were power cuts so it was very dark with no street lights. However, I was fobbed off by the propriator of the hotel in the rudest possible manner. I was refused entrance to my hotel because I was late (I had walked miles to get to it from the bus stop, I didn't know the area and the address is unmarked and down a small back street quite hidden. THis was not explained.
Agen is a bit like Crew, it is a change point for trains to go anywhere but the town is a bit drab in itself.

Agen is a lovely town with very friendly people.
Agen is a lovely town with very friendly people. They live their rugby and we’re very welcoming. There is a beautiful cathedral but not a great deal more to see other than immersing yourself in the traditional French culture. Great little patisserie in the centre of town was perfect for breakfast

A delightful departmental city with important rail...
A delightful departmental city with important rail connections, but minimal air ones. It contains many old and narrow streets now connected with the modern ones to facilitate movement and there are ample shopping possibilities, together with museums, art galleries, medical facilities, river and canals and other attractions. Adequate parking does seem to be available.

Agen is a very pleasant and calm town.
Agen is a very pleasant and calm town. The local people are very friendly and helpful. The food has a real taste as there is so much fresh agricultural produce sold at affordable prices in the local shops.
There is an Artisan Soap makers shop called Lou Karitan. The soap is handmade from scratch with the finest organic ingredients by Cecilia and Patrick. They have soap-making sessions where adults and children alike can observe the cold saponification they use to produce their beautiful gently scented or scent-free soaps. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
There is a fantastic swimming pool which is very affordable. Excellent swimming courses available in English for both children and adults are given by Jean Riomeaux in Agen Sud bassin.

We needed a journey-breaker and Agen fitted the bill within our travel plans. It also gave us the chance to see a new town. Agen iis a typcial older French "working" town with a pleasant historic centre with a good mis of shops, bars, restaurants and intersting buildings
The breakfast was fantastic, beautiful pastries, breads, cheese & ham and freshly squeezed orange juice served on the balcony. The B&B itself was in a prime location just a few minutes walk from the Centre of Agen. Our Room 'Oscar' was superb, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom huge with fluffy towels, bath robes & toiletries. Our host Vincent simply could not do enough for us, we loved it all. Having the swimming pool to cool off in the really hot temperature was the icing on the cherry!
Very central to Agen but difficult to find. Apartment very small but clean. No parking was a let down for me. I asked but did not receive an answer. For a train traveller it ma it y be good for one night but I would not stay there again. There is better value in out-of-town accommodation oif you have! That flexibility. Also, the window blinds did not work so no privacy.
Listen... if ANYONE, COUPLES, FRIENDS & FAMILY want to enjoy a BEAUTIFUL, high-contemporary modern travel stay, I HIGHLY recommend 7 HOTEL PARTICULIER. I will not call it a hotel. IT is a wonderfully, very private ultra comfortable living experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
HOST, MR. MARTZ, was fantastic! Very attentive and very gracious. Thank you, Mr. Martz.
Loved the apartment it was clean, spacious, well-decorated and comfortable. We wanted to stay in a place that was quintessentially French and close to everything and this was it. We loved it and will be staying again during our next visit to Agen.
The hotel is very well situated, with easy access to the pedestrian city center and the train station. There are many options for eating around. The room was spacious. I really appreciated the small terrace. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The property is located down a narrow side street in the middle of Agen with a car park only 2 minutes walk away. The accommodation is as per the photos and the location is excellent. Agen is a beautiful place to stop and see.

Good sized room with AC being installed and a small balcony facing the afternoon sun. Close to everything in Agen. Very helpful and competent host. Excellent facilities for bicycle travellers. Breakfast very good.
Hotel was clean and comfortable Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location. Easy walk to shops and train station. Breakfast was well prepared with many choices. Highly recommend this hotel.
LOCATION, location, location. Right in the middle of Agen, and next to one of the best museums in France. Also very near to the Market, so you can easily get food etc.
Loved the location. It was a short walk to all of the main things to see and so in Agen but was secluded enough that it was quiet. The apartment itself was gorgeous.
Vincent was an excellent host. The breakfast was fresh and tasty.
The internal decor of the hotel was art deco and very stylish and cool. We felt most welcome.
