While Ortesie is slightly larger town, Selva is higher elevation and more quaint alpine village, and better lift access. Busses are free, frequent, and electronic displays accurately show next bus, so visiting Ortesie for dinner or to explore or ski is easy. While we liked Ortesie, I would stay in Selva de Gardena the next time.

Information on the website about the village amenity was...
Information on the website about the village amenity was very poor. I would have liked more information about the public transport options, timetables etc. Information about the taxi to the horses was out of date and it cost a lot more than it said on the website. The lack of a bus link to other villages was a real drawback for me. And the cost of taxis was exorbitant.
Also information about the grocery shops. The shops were very small and expensive.
Although our accommodation was excellent I wouldn’t recommend this area again.

A perfect base to go on hikes.
A perfect base to go on hikes. There are so many hiking trails to choose from and plenty cable cars that will take you to the start of the trails. Very lively without being overly crowded with many restaurants, bars and shops so it's convenient. Great mobility, the public transport is well connected so we don't have to use the cars all the time.

Hotel is very stylish, with attention to little details. Room is quite spacious, well decorated, nice couch, balcony. There is a kettle and a minibar in the room. Also the room has the bathtub, really nice
Spa is great, especially after the slopes.
Breakfast is good, everything you need is there. Pastries are a highlight.
Comfy beds and pillows, good sleep.
Location is great, several ski lifts are nearby.
Also hotel has a ski room, nice to have.
Coffee in the hotel bar was quite good
Staff, facilities and the view is fantastic. Spa was luxurious. Food was great both at breakfast and dinner. We were very happy with our stay at Hotel Wolkenstein. Ski slopes were accessible both by shuttle to two different ski lifts and by walking to saslong 400m. As for hiking - right by the hotel goes by the bahnweg trail. Also hotel surprised us with included cake hour, finger food hour at the bar for the guests and there was live music one night.
The perfect stay in the dolomites! The hotel is charming and has a homely feel, yet has all the luxuries you'd expect at a much more expensive place. Herbert was incredibly helpful and also very fun to talk to, and was able to support us with recommendations and everything else that we needed. Beautiful views from the room, and a short walk to the main street as well as lifts for skiing and rental shops. We loved our stay here and will be coming back.
From the moment we arrived, we were made very welcome, the hotel had a very friendly atmosphere with many returning guests, the food was amazing and the staff so friendly and attentive, the shuttle service was brilliant the minute you stepped into the boot room some one was there to take you and just a phone call away when you finished, our room was very bright warm and cosy, we also loved the beautiful spa so nice to relax after a day skiing,
Great location very close to ski lifts, restaurants etc. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and the breakfast was delicious. It was wonderful to have a wellness area with three different saunas after skiing all day - it was open three times a week on our visit which was fine. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a beautiful room with a lovely view which was a very nice surprise plus the beds were very comfortable.
The location is amazing as you can ski in and out and get onto the Sella Ronda within one chair lift. However, it wasn't clear when I made the booking to park in St Christina and take the Saslong cable car up so went to the wrong town first. Once you're at the hotel, the staff make you feel very welcome and looked after. The hotel is very charming, the food was good and and the spa the icing on the cake!
Great location, great breakfast, comfy bed, clean and big bathroom. The property is up hill they gave me a free ride to the bus stop. If you have luggage and you arrive by bus call them . They are happy to help you with a ride to hotel. The terrace was small but still a good view! The property has also a good restaurant, worths trying out. The hist was kind and could manage with english.
The hotel owner was very friendly and so helpful and went out of her way to make our stay comfortable She spent a lot of time suggesting various drives and explaining routes to us The room was very clean and we slept very well and the breakfast had everything we could want. An exceptional host!
Everything. Very friendly staff and owners, spacious room (deluxe corner room), excellent beds, very nice shower. The hotel gym provides luxury equipment (Technogym), the wellness is small but offers all you need. Breakfast was outstanding with an extensive selection of high quality food.
The location was perfect. Gorgeous views, convenient to hiking/skiing, and a very quick drive into town. The apartment was spacious and had more than enough room for our family. We only wish we could have stayed longer in Selva di Val Gardena!
Excellent service and hotel. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail. Crazy beautiful view from the window. Very tasty breakfast and very large variety of food to choose from. One of the best ski resort hotels with baths and pools.
The breakfast was perfect. the stuff was super helpful, arranging us dinner reservation with transfer back and forth. The view was breathtaking and the ski lift was a couple meters away from the hotel. I would totally visit again!
Staff: service from the guy behind the bar, bernadette, cleaning ladies, warm goodbye
help with finding nice restaurants
printing skipass in the hotel
heated room to warm the boots
location near the lift nives
Comfortable, clean, and convenient. One cable car is a 3 minute walk. Another is a20 minute walk. Both offer stunning views. The service and food at the hotel restaurant was excellent! Highly recommend
Breakfast had both hot and cold choices. My room had a full size tub, a balcony, and a mountain view. The hotel had a big ski room.
The hotel was near the cable car, as well as the town center.
This hotel was beautiful and its location was even more beautiful. The service was excellent and the breakfast was yummy. I cannot say enough about the view from our veranda.
The staff was amicable and accommodating.
True story: my vehicle was stuck in the snow 200m down the street, and the hotel staff came and helped push me out.
