I liked the location.
I liked the location. I did not like at all that the contact person was extremely lightly and did not answer my calls, and then did not respond to the problems, which were: the full trash can under the sink, the non-working TV with a broken socket and most of all the damaged door to the bedroom. When it closes, it gets out of the chute because it's sliding and you end up getting locked in, like it happened with us and you can't open it more. And the host, he doesn't even answer your phone or answer your messages. Extremely irresponsible person!!!

I’m sure Kristiansund is nicer than it seemed in a wet and cold night in October. However we had an excellent fish dinner at Smia and marvelled at the architecture of the modern church on our way back to accommodation. Well worth going inside for the beautiful coloured glass chancel.

Grip Island Tour was excellent and well worth the 3.5 hour trip. Easy to walk around Kristiansund and some nice walking trails from town.
Everything is pretty central, easy to catch the Sundbaten if you want to check out each of the different islands that make up Kristiansund.
It was a shame that the Klipfisk museet was closed during my stay - it was pretty much impossible to find the opening times and I had to wait to get a response from one of the locals who said it was not opening for another week.
Even though there is poor tourist information provided in Kristiansund, would still recommend stopping here for at least a day or two to really appreciate it.

I was there to attend de Nordic Light Festival and I was amazad about how nice and good it was for such a little place as Kristiansund! I recommend all photo-interested to visit this festival.
I took my lunch and dinner at a Thai and an Indian restuarants, really good both of them. I was kind of surprised by the food offer in town, good variation.

Quite town spread through 4 islands.
Quite town spread through 4 islands. Unfortunately I can't speak about the klipfish museum as it was closed during my stay; also I did not get a chance to ride the historical sundbaten. I absolutely loved the Vandammam Park area, a pleasant surprise! Highlight of Kristiansund. The Vården allows for 360° views of the whole area, and it's open 24h/day! The old town (innlandet) is not very big, and the scenery is not all that different - colourful wooden houses. I assume a guide could be helpful in order to illustrate what the komune is trying to preserve. In general, lack of signs with historical/cultural information in English (plenty in Norwegian, if you understand it).

A walk in the city park leading up to the old fire guard white tower was a beautiful experience on a sunny day. Wonderful views of the city from the fire guard tower. The Sunboat takes you around the four islands in less than 20 minutes. But it's not tourist focused!
Situated right on the waterfront you can drink a glass of wine or tap beer right on the canals of Kristiansund and listen to the hushed sqeaks from the nearby marina. Breakfast was on the same waterfront with the same beautiful view and offered a great variety. The coffee machines had many coffee preparation options. There is an EV charging option right in front at the hotel parking lot. I hope to visit Kristiansund again and the same Thon Hotel.
I am so pleased I booked this apartment for my week long stay. It was beautifully decorated, cosy to relax in, with a comfortable bed, and a well-equipped kitchen. The complimentary coffee and tea was a bonus, as was the sweet treats that were left out on my arrival. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, and the dog, Elvis, was super cute. If I come back to Kristiansund, I'll definitely stay here again.
Brand new renovated apartment with all the useful appliances and equipment, all modern and new, fully equipped kitchen, all rooms were spacey and cozy at the same time, nicely decorated, spotless clean. Host is very kind and helpful, parking is directly by entrance door, location is perfect. And last but not least, there were welcome gifts 🤩 Really nice touch, the best place on our Norway trip!
Located in a rural area outside Kristiansund. Waterfront property is a large compound. Very quaint & pretty. Check out their web site for full pictures/descriptions. Our cabin had a balcony right on the fjord (water underneath deck). Rustic wood paneling & ceiling beams inside. Beautiful windows. One of the two properties on our trip that had a microwave. Very comfortable bed.
Wow! This is very upscale compared to many of the properties we stayed at on this trip. Fun light fixtures throughout that we had to check out and nice space. One of the better places we stayed on our 16 day tour of Norway and Sweden.
The location was great. Near the center of the city and right next to a nice bar.It was a comfortable stay near a mall. Not caused by the hotel but the taxi ferry is free to go to other city districts across the bay.
