Bury St Edmunds is a beautiful Town with plenty of lovely places to visit. It has a very unspoilt, almost old fashioned feel to it. There are plenty of great Independent shops and also larger more recognisable high street chains. The Abbey Gardens are beautiful especially in the Summer time.
You are spoilt for choice with the selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs to eat in. The Apex is a fantastic venue to watch a show in or just wander in and have a coffee.

Bury St Edmunds is a wonderfully historic English town with a slower pace than Cambridge. It’s definitely a really nice change from busy London. I would stay in Bury St Edmunds over Cambridge. Just take the train to Cambridge for a day and then come back to the calm of Bury St. Edmunds to enjoy your precious time minus the tourists.

Bury St Edmund’s is a very English town full of heritage.
Bury St Edmund’s is a very English town full of heritage. The Abbey Gardens and ruins are beautiful and well maintained. The town is full of small gourmet restaurants and quaint cafes. Giggling Squid restaurant is amazing! There are plenty of shops for buying gifts and a regular market on Wednesdays. You do not need a car to get around this town.

Bury St Edmunds is a lovely place to visit and the Abbey Gardens are lovely to walk round. We were seeing relatives, The Bushal was in an ideal place near the town. We went by train so no car and The Bushal was good for that. A good place to visit, and historical.

Bury St Edmunds is lovely, pretty Abbey Gardens and a mix of shops. We stayed at The Westgate Pub. £110 for 1 night. It was old, tatty with peeling paintwork, and a very suspect looking kettle. The owner was pleasant, but the rooms need a clean and updating. We will return to the town but choose accommodation better. Shame.

The property is located right next to the main shopping area, not to far from the train station and bus stations. The property is exactly as described. Can easily cater for a family of 2 adults and 2 or 3 children. Everything worked and was clearly described in the welcome pack. Access was easy via a lockbox and communication from the host was clear and friendly.
I would definitely book this again and also recommend it to anyone who wants to stay close to town rather than the bigger hotels located further out of the town centre.
Bury St Edmunds has a lot to offer with the arc shopping centres and Abbey Gardens not to far away.

The hotel itself was pleasant. The staff were friendly and the food was fair. The reasons I wouldn't go back are that we were downgraded when we arrived as we had a dog and the allocated room was tiny. The worst part though was the mattress was the most uncomfortable one I've ever slept on.. it was rock hard and the springs poked through bruising various parts of the body. We didn't sleep well and as it was our first night away it ruined the rest of the weekend as we were so tired afterwards.
We've been to Bury Saint Edmunds before (a number of times - visiting friends in the area) - but, have never been to the Dog and Partridge. It's a brilliant location, the staff are friendly, the room was clean and spacious. The bar area is vast - with loads of places to sit and enjoy in comfort. The white wine was yummy. We'd been fed by friends nearby before arrival - so, we didn't eat - but, will do when we stay 'next.
The room I stayed in was very comfortable with air conditioning. It was quite quirky/very original being on old stable. The food was excellent, especially the breakfast. It was close the the Abbey and town centre, which is beautiful. Full of character with friendly staff and locals drinking with their dogs!
Lovely and friendly owner. Really comfortable bed with top quality bedding. Nespresso coffee machine was a nice touch, and great toiletries. Ideally situated near the town centre. Probably the best cooked breakfast we’ve ever had at a bed and breakfast. Will be returning next year.
House was lovely inside, with all facilities you would want. Decor was homely and the bed was really comfortable! I enjoyed staying in a house rather than being cooped up in a hotel room. Properly is close to town so it was easy to get to shops and restaurants etc.
The bedroom and breakfast were both very good. There is ample car parking. It is very well located, being very close to the A14. There is a lovely walk from the hotel into the town centre (15-20 minutes' walk), so you do not need to drive into the town centre.
Location good. Lovely looking hotel from outside. Staff v friendly.
Our room tired also no plug sockets near a mirror for hair drying or kettle. Bed lopsided and very uncomfortable.
My parents room had been recently decorated albeit not v tastefully.
A lovely old hotel with everything you could want. A pleasant 20 minute walk into the town centre. We stayed in one of the apartments which felt like a little home from home.
All satisfactory. Typical hotel. Pleasant staff. Town centre a short walk through Abbey Gardens. Bus stop very conveniently located as was Sainsburys supermarket.
