Mechelen is a nice city to explore, many options for children and cosy & good quality food options. Architecture and museums also.
I would love to be back when the weather is warmer. The coffee places and bars are quite inviting for a more outdoorsy day.
Really enjoyed trip.Attractive city..lovely architecture ,brilliant variety of shops. Some attractions shut, not a lot of parks or green areas.Cobbles everywhere, bring comfortable trainers!Brilliant eateries if you drink beer…very limited wine choices. Not a lot of variety of restaurants.Lovely wide streets with attractive water features and trees.Problem understanding menus as no English versions at all!

Unfortunately I visited this city while there was a lot of construction going on and a fun fair was in the centre blocking all the beautiful buildings. I think it would be better to visit earlier or later in the year and check if construction has finished.

When ever we take a motorcycle tour in Europe we always end up booking in Mechelen for our last stop over.It is ideal for us to chill out knowing that the place has a relaxed atmosphere and lovely bars, cafes and other attractions to visit in an unhurried manner. My wife looked out our bedroom window this morning and called me over to take a look outside, I did so and there was a man with an industrial electric four wheeled vehicle behind him and he was HOOVERING the gutters and footpath/cycle way. We love the place, just reckoned up and this is our sixth visit/stop over in Mechelen.
I liked the location of this property, very close walking distance from Mechelen-Nekkerspoel. Therefore quite easy (and early) train options to reach Brussels Airport (BRU). Walking distance to old city centre with beautiful square and some (beer) cafes and restaurants, shops.
Check-in guy, a Filipino, was friendly and accommodating, plentiful information available and in for a casual chat too.
Room size is large, and the premises are a quite lay-out. It's not a hotel, also common public is living there in this building.
We have stayed here many times over the years, and in recent years the room upgrades have made the place feel really special. The welcome is always warm and friendly, the parking space (booked in advance) good value and convenient and the breakfast is high quality.
Obviously most people stay here as it is at one of the best breweries in Belgium, and the quality of beers and food never disappoint.
The location is good, easy 10 minute walk from the Mechelen-Nekkerspoel train station and very close to Saint Rumbold's Cathedral and the Grote Market.
Room was spacious and clean, very comfortable, with a nice sized shower.
The breakfast was good, what you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Natasha, who checked us in was delightful, efficient and quite helpful.
Stay at Elisabeth was the best choice for staying in Malines for 2 days. The city is pretty and clean, the hotel is well located close to the center, it's new, the staff is kind and ready to explain everything you need. The swimming pool is amazing, a cool place to relax. I will stay there again for sure or suggest it to my friends.
The hotel is very nice, central, large room, nicely decorated. There is a kettle in the room which I appreciated a lot. Breakfast is good. People are helpful and friendly. The hotel is central and close to a bus stop but train station is about 20 minutes away on foot and if you walk through the Bruul it's a very pleasant walk.
The staff was very helpful (and kind) and came to action when we had a problem with the acoustic of the bedroom - we got immediately a new room and they even gave us the possibility to choose among 2 or 3 options (of course we were lucky that there were bedrooms available). Location of the hotel is perfect!
Room exceptionally comfortable, great size, clean, very well equipped. It was ideal for us as couple with one young child. Everything was working well in the room and we haven't had a problem with anything. The hotel and its neighborhood was very quiet
Excellent boutique hotel. Felt very new and clean. Incredible few of church across street through floor to ceiling windows especially at night when it was lit up. It was also a pretty close walk (10min) to train station and easy to get to.
The hotel was situated close to the centre of the town, which made for easy access to most sights. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good with a variety of different food to choose from.
On hot days an airconditioner would be nice. Sleeping with open window is no option since the hotel is located on a busy street. Otherwise very good value for money
Location was good and reception staff excellent. Parking directly beneath the hotel was a bonus as we needed secure parking for my Harley- Davidson motorcycle.
